Linda is our Practice Manager, having joined Byrne Associates in August 2000 as Management Accountant. She previously worked at Neville Russell, which has now become Mazars.
After graduating from Bristol University she taught Chemistry at a number of local schools. Looking after her 4 daughters involved taking a career break and she used this time as an opportunity to retrain in accountancy, gaining both her AAT and ACCA qualifications. In 2004 she also obtained her Certificate of Proficiency in Insolvency.
"As Practice Manager at Byrne Associates I have responsibility for the practice accounts, payroll and for ensuring the smooth running of the office. Up until recently I was also handling the HR function. This gives me plenty of variety – I’m not doing the same thing all the time, and I really enjoy the fact that we have a small team with a family ethos. However, my main satisfaction is the accounting – I like working with figures and get a real sense of achievement when everything reconciles perfectly."
Outside of work she pursues her musical interests. "I've always liked dancing and for the last 15 years I've been a very keen jazz and tap dancer. I also play violin in Nailsea Concert Orchestra. It’s funny, an interest in music often seems to go with a love of numbers...musicality and accountancy have a lot in common, because they are both about order."
